About

Michelle Paradis is a seascape and landscape artist living and working from her home studio near Montreal.

Primarily self-taught, Michelle picked-up her paintbrushes again 6 years ago, after a ten year span working as a pharmacist. She moved to the north shore of Vancouver in British Columbia and the beautiful west coast scenery was the trigger to return to her creative roots.

After her 3 year stay in British Columbia, she is now a full-time artist carrying her west coast inspiration back east with her. Working from her studio, Michelle prefers to work with oils. Fascinated by the light, transparency, and movement of water, she loves to tell the story of a beautiful beachside sunset, of the light dancing on water or shining through the waves . She is a master at depicting the light, transparency and movement of water which she achieves by using both wet-on-wet and glazing techniques with traditional oils.

Her time spent on the west coast and her various travels across eastern Canada, including a residency in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, have greatly influenced her work. She is now known for her stunning depictions of light on water and the ethereal beauty of the ocean in her breathtakingly grand seascapes.

Michelle is active in the artistic community. She is a navigator with the mentorship community Mastrius and has won awards in various juried exhibitions. Her work is in private collections internationally and can be seen in gallery at Cloud Gallery in Orillia, Ontario, at County Creative Gallery in Picton, Ontario, at Crown and Press in Hamilton, Ontario and select pieces at James Baird Gallery in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland,

When Michelle is not in her studio painting, she is either spending quality time with her two daughters or enjoying the outdoors by spending time by the water, running, hiking and skiing.
